Good Afternoon Pack 118!!!

Happy Labor Day Weekend!  I hope you are all having a relaxing weekend after a couple of weeks of school.  I want to congratulate each of you on a great first evening of Den Meetings!  Although the Den Meetings are planned and led by the Den Leaders, it takes each of you to ensure that things run smoothly!

We will have Den Meetings on Tuesday, September 8, at 6:30 pm in the Scout Room.  If your Den Leader has been in touch with you about alternate plans, please follow their instructions.

Tuesday will be the deadline for signing up and paying for the Fall trip to Riverbanks Zoo.  Please see Ellen Zoutewelle at the meeting to pay, and if you have not signed up via Evite, please let her know.  I know the evite didn’t get to everyone, so don’t worry, just let Ellen know that you’re coming.  We need to get a headcount in to Riverbanks so they have adequate time to make arrangements for our trip.  If you have any questions about this trip, please send me an email, or Ellen or me at the meeting on Tuesday.  This will be a great trip, and I look forward to seeing your boys in their natural environment!

The following Tuesday, September 15, we will meet in the gym (the large building across the courtyard from our scout room) at 6:30 pm for FAMILY FUN NIGHT!!  We will serve dinner and have some fun games for families to play while you get to know each other better.

Our Fall Trip to Riverbanks Zoo will be Friday, September 18 – Saturday, September 19.  Please note that this is a one-night trip.  We will meet at the front of Riverbanks Zoo at 6:45pm to begin our adventure!  Please eat dinner on the way down, as we won’t have dinner available once we enter the zoo.  After an evening of learning about the zoo, we will sleep in classrooms and the auditorium.  Please bring a sleeping bag and ground pad (the floor is hard).  We will be sleeping in an area that the animals can’t get to, so you won’t need to worry about being kept up all night by the zoo animals, although the Tigers, Wolves and Bears might keep you up.  On Saturday morning, we will have breakfast and one more session before being released from the overnight program.  After stowing our personal equipment in our cars, we will be able to enter the zoo as a regular guest for the day on Saturday.

On Tuesday, September 22, your Pack 118 leadership team will meet for a Committee Meeting.  All parents are highly encouraged to attend.  I have been told by a few parents that they had no idea how much we do to run Pack 118.  Please come to a Committee Meeting to see for yourself.

The fifth Tuesday of September, the 29th, we will not have a meeting.  This would be a great time for you to have some family time with your family.  You might be surprised what you learn about each other!

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask me.  You can send me an email or see me at the meeting on Tuesday.  I look forward to seeing you soon!!

Yours In Scouting,

Martin Zoutewelle
