Good Morning, Pack 118!!
I hope that everyone has recovered from our busy weekend at McDowell Nature Preserve. The food was fantastic! Many thanks to Ashley Boyd for being our Grubmaster and Saturday night Chef. Thanks to Scott & Robin Williams for leading the charge for breakfast on Sunday! And of course, thanks to all the families who pitched in throughout the weekend in the kitchen and herding the cats!
Our next meeting is tomorrow, Tuesday, September 27! We will meet in the St. Stephen, UMC gym. Please drive around the back of the church and park in the large parking lot. The gym is the big building right in front of the parking lot, to the right of the classroom building where the scout room is.
This meeting will be a welcome back celebration and our introduction to Popcorn Selling! We will start with Pizza at 6:30 pm, and have snacks available throughout the meeting. (Parents, you will want to watch your Scouts and their siblings, or you will have tummy aches to deal with!) The cost for pizza is $3.00 per person.
I can promise you, that you will not want to miss this meeting. This will be talked about for weeks, months and years to come! You will enjoy it, and your scouts will almost die laughing! After the antics, we will have a brief awards ceremony for those scouts who earned awards over the summer and a few Bobcat awards.
We will then give you the details on our annual popcorn sales season. This will be during the month of October, and there are quite a few important changes that we are making this year. Parents, please attend this meeting!
While the popcorn information is being presented to most of Pack 118, Mr. Dodrill and I will take the new families to another room for an introduction to Pack 118. This will cover the popcorn sales information and some important information that new families need to be familiar with. Don’t worry, you won’t miss the antics!
As part of our Popcorn Season, we have already arranged for Show & Sell sites at several locations over the next three weekends. The Sign-up Genius will go live tomorrow evening after the meeting. Please help us fill every time slot so we can maximize our sales this year!
Looking ahead, we will continue with our Den Meetings on Tuesday, October 4, at 6:30 pm. We will be on a regular schedule for meetings in October, with Den meetings the first three Tuesdays at 6:30 pm, and a Pack Committee meeting the fourth Tuesday at 6:30.
Our next family camping trip will be November 11 – 13 at Belk Scout Camp. The camp is about 30 minutes away from St. Stephen, and this will be a great weekend to hang out with each other as our scouts learn more about scoutcraft and essential skills that they will need as they grow in Cub Scouting and into Boy Scouts. This weekend, most of the sessions will be taught by the Boy Scouts themselves! The real beauty of Boy Scouting is that it is a Boy Led program. This will be the first time that some of our Cub Scouts experience an older Scout teaching them. I guarantee that this will have a positive effect on your Cub Scout. I will have more about this weekend in early October, but please note the dates and be ready for a good weekend!
I look forward to seeing all of you at our Pack Meeting tomorrow evening, Tuesday, September 27, at 6:30 pm in the gym at St. Stephen, UMC!!
Yours In Scouting,
Martin Zoutewelle, Cubmaster, Pack 118
